The rate I charge depends on the number of students with whom I work. When working with 1 student, the rate is $40 per hour; with 2 students, $30 per hour per student; with 3 students, $25 per hour per student; with 4 students, $22.50 per hour per student; and with 5 students, $20 per hour per student. You decide whether you want to come alone or bring other students with you, and I will charge the applicable rate. Where Do You Do The Tutoring? Face-to-face tutoring is done on the campus of San Diego State University (Storm Hall 242). Virtual tutoring is done by webcam, instant messaging software, e-mail, and/or telephone. If you are seeking virtual tutoring, please indicate this when you contact me so that I can make the necessary logistical arrangements with you. What Are The Tutoring Rules? Please understand that this is what I do for a living. Therefore, I take it seriously and expect those I work with to do the same. PLEASE NOTE THESE RULES ARE NOT FLEXIBLE AND THEY ARE STRICTLY ENFORCED Registration Policy In order to accurately track the students with whom I work, I need you to fill-out an information form/contractual agreement completely. Once I receive it, I can then schedule tutoring appointments with you. Payment Policy For face-to-face tutoring, please pay me in cash at the time I work with you and do your best to bring exact change because I do not accept checks or credit cards. NOTE: If you don't bring exact change, I will adjust what I charge you the next time I see you. For virtual tutoring, please pay for all appointments in advance via an automated clearinghouse (ACH) transaction through your financial institution. The process is simple, free, and efficient. I will provide you with the necessary instructions to facilitate the transaction. This is the only form of acceptable payment for virtual tutoring. Cancellation Policy Please call me at home at (619) 287-4986 AND e-mail me with more than 24 hours notice if you need to cancel an appointment for any reason. NOTE: If you cancel an appointment with anything less than 24 hours notice (for instance, 23 hours and 59 minutes notice), you are responsible for paying for the appointment. Appointment Policy Please keep the appointments you make. Carefully consider your schedule before making any appointments because you are limited to making and breaking (with adequate notice) a maximum of 3 appointments per semester. ("Rescheduling" an appointment counts as making and breaking an appointment.) NOTE: You are responsible for paying for each appointment you make and break in excess of 3 per semester. The only exception is if you cancel all of your remaining appointments for some reason (e.g., dropping the class, withdrawing from school temporarily, coping with an unexpected emergency, etc.) In this case, I will charge you for only 1 tutoring session - an inconvenience charge for making and breaking repeated appointments. Responsibility Policy Please write down the date, time, and location of our appointment(s). (I will provide you with directions, if necessary.) NOTE: If you miss an appointment for any reason, you are responsible for paying for the appointment. (I will, however, wait for up to 30 minutes just in case you are running late.) What Are Your Qualifications? I've been tutoring business students for 12 years and have completed undergraduate and graduate business degrees (finance emphasis). I graduated with the highest possible honors and earned an "A" in every business course I teach. If you're interested in the tutoring, please contact me and I will send the required information form/contractual agreement to you. Please complete it and return it to me by e-mail. Then, call me at home at (619) 287-4986 and leave your complete name, phone number, and e-mail address. You may call anytime (24 hours a day). Adam The Tutor ** Virtual Tutoring Details ** I am based in San Diego and tutor business students outside this region virtually by communicating via webcam, instant messaging software, e-mail, and/or telephone. Here is how it works: Once you agree to the tutoring terms and conditions outlined below, and return the required information form/contractual agreement, I will ask you to send copies of all relevant course materials to me (e.g., textbook, PowerPoint slides, lecture notes, practice problems and accompanying solutions, etc.) by snail-mail. I will contact you to confirm receipt of the materials once I actually receive them. We will then schedule the tutoring sessions. In my professional opinion, it’s critical that you send copies of all relevant course materials to me so that we are looking at the same thing at the same time. This will enable me to effectively tutor you. Once you finish the class, I will return any materials you send to me, provided you pay for any necessary shipping costs. NOTE: I will still work with you if you choose not to send the course materials to me, but realize that it will be more difficult and awkward because each instructor and textbook may address issues in different ways. Nevertheless, I will do my best to assist you. ** Virtual Tutoring Terms & Conditions ** You must pay in advance for all desired tutoring sessions through an automated clearinghouse (ACH) transaction. I suggest paying for several sessions in advance to avoid unnecessary time delays, but you may pay as you go (session-by-session) if you prefer. I do not accept any other form of payment for virtual tutoring. I will track your credit balance with me and provide you with updated balances periodically. Please be aware that additional charges (beyond the “normal” tutoring rate) may apply, depending on individual circumstances. For example, if we communicate by telephone, you must call me and bear the cost of any long-distance charges. Therefore, I recommend obtaining a flat-rate calling plan that permits unlimited long-distance calls. If you send files to me electronically and expect me to print them, you must bear the cost of my time spent to print the files (at a rate of $40 per hour), plus a cost of $.25 per page printed. (You can avoid these potential charges by sending hard copies of any necessary materials to me by snail-mail.) Finally, if you want me to send relevant material of my own that may help clarify an issue, you must bear the cost of my time spent to compose and send the information to you (at a rate of $40 per hour). For instance, if you want me to electronically scan relevant material I have available, you must bear the cost of my time spent compiling and scanning the data, plus a cost of $.25 per page scanned. Adam The Tutor |
